A BAMF integration course (Integrationskurs) is a state-funded German language programme approved by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). It combines 600 hours of German language instruction (A1–B1) with a 100-hour orientation course covering German law, history, and culture.

Who is eligible for a BAMF integration course in Berlin? +

EU citizens, refugees with a residence permit, and certain other visa holders are entitled or obligated to attend. You apply through the BAMF portal or directly with an approved school. Your local Ausländerbehörde or Jobcenter can also issue a referral voucher (Berechtigungsschein).

How much does a BAMF integration course cost? +

The standard co-payment is €1.20 per lesson unit. For 600 units that is approximately €720 total — but recipients of Bürgergeld, Sozialhilfe, or Asylbewerberleistungen are usually fully exempt. Some participants also qualify for a full fee waiver.
