C2 German Courses in Berlin

Reaching C2

C2 is the top of the scale. No residence rule asks for it: you aim for it when you want German to feel as natural as your own language, for your work, your studies or simply for yourself. It is a long climb, and every step of it is yours to keep.

What you'll be able to do

At C2 you understand practically everything you hear or read with ease. You can bring together information from different sources into one clear account, and you express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, catching fine shades of meaning even on complex subjects.

Where C2 counts

• Residence law never asks for C2. The highest level the Residence Act names is C1, so for a permit you will not need a C2 certificate.
• University. German universities generally recognise the Goethe-Zertifikat C2 and the ÖSD Zertifikat C2 as proof of German for a degree programme. Check the rules for your programme with your university.
• Work. The BAMF's job-related German courses (Berufssprachkurse) include a C2 course of 400 lessons, which ends with an exam that confirms C2.
